ARTISAN P

Based in Tallahassee, Florida, Artisan P is a Renaissance Man in the industry, creating music as an emcee, musician and writer. P holds his influences with pride looking to provide that True School Hip-Hop sound that heads can appreciate. In that same breath though, the Florida upstart creates accessible art where anyone can pull something of substance and feel fulfilled in their listening. Even with Artisan filling the boom bap role, his verses and music extend beyond that with P’s flows and cadence embodying the poetic heart that hip-hop was born in. Since the last time we spoke a few years ago, Artisan P has unleashed a bevy of albums including his debut album, a duo album with Buster Wolf called ‘Don't Tell A Soul’ and a reunion with a collaborator almost a decade since their first album smashed to the Earth. Artisan P continues to show growth and prowess and he’s not even remotely close to done as we head deeper into 2026.

Artisan P’s family holds over 50 years of legacy in music, ensuring that our hero would eventually pursue the arts as well. “My father is a musician, he’s been with his band from Haiti since 1968,” P says. Meanwhile, P’s mother was a big fan of the art form introducing P to Haitian music, R&B, pop and rock. As he grew up, Artisan continued to discover instruments on his own while attending concerts and soundchecks with his father, seeing the creation process firsthand. Guitar was the instrument Artisan P gravitated to, with Artisan playing in a number of bands and even plays the guitar to this day. “I played in bands….and the DIY ethics of that really stuck with me,” Artisan explains. Eventually the groups would disband, and this saw Artisan P linking up with DJ Proof and this was where the emcee was born.

Here we are in 2026, Artisan’s been making music for over a decade at this point, being covered on podcasts and publications, infusing his lyrical prowess over all kinds of production, looking to have a direct impact on the listener. “I want the listener to feel like they learned something new,” P says, “I want people to see things from a different perspective moving forward.” It’s these goals and willingness to create quality dating all the way back to his debut full-length album ‘Direct Flights’ that will always have Artisan P as an important part of the genre let alone the arts. Produced entirely by DJ Proof, it was only fair that the duo came back together TEN YEARS LATER to bring us a proper sequel properly titled ‘Direct Flights 2’. A milestone not simply from a timing standpoint but the growth and evolution of both artists are heard throughout the 14-track venture. They’re not done either as apparently the duo is already crafting their third project together. Between EPs intricately crafted to perfection to collaborative projects with others, Artisan can do it all and continues to solidify himself as a pillar of Hip-Hop.
